KIWANIS BLUEBERRY SALE! Now thru June 30th, 2016

Troop Families,

          The Mechanicsburg Museum Association is joining with the Upper Allen Kiwanis Club for it’s annual  blueberry sale.  The price is the same as last year - $30.00 for a 10lb box.  This equates to 13 ½ pints.  The blueberries are grown in New Jersey and shipped directly to us for distribution on July 8th. Pick up will be at the Passenger Station, 2 West Strawberry Alley, just off the square in Mechanicsburg, between the hours of 10 am and 7 pm.  Orders will be accepted until June 30th. 

Flag Retirement - Thursday, June 9

On Thursday, June 9, we will be holding a flag retirement ceremony at Memorial Park.  Please arrive at 6 pm to help set-up for the ceremony. The ceremony should be completed between 7:30 and 8 pm.

Summer Camp 2016 - We go to Goose Pond Scout Reservation, July 17-23, 2016 - 1047 Goose Pond Rd, Lake Ariel, PA 18436 is located in the Poconos about 3 hours away, Northeast PA. You must register and pay by April 30.

Recycling Service Project

Our troop sponsors a recycling project through Terra Cycle.  The program is designed to recycle items that cannot be placed in the normal recycling trash container.  A list of the items we are collecting is below.  Please have your scout bring in items from the list each week.

  • Spray Bottle tops (trigger caps, flexible packaging & pouches - not the plastic bottles)
  • Toothbrushes, floss containers, toothpaste tubes & packaging 
  • Plastic pens, mechanical pencils, markers, highlighters - plastic parts only 
  • Clear "Scotch" tape dispensers & their plastic cores 
  • Cereal bags - inner sleeves of cereal boxes 
  • Snack bags (pretzels, chips, crackers, cheese curls, etc.)
  • Laundry, Soda, Cleaning, Medicine Screw Lids and Caps
  • Plastic safety seals, plastic labels on water, soda, tea and sport drinks
  • CLIFF energy bar  wrapping & foil lined wrapping of snack bars
  • GO squeeze containers
  • Capri/Honest juice bags

New Scout Rank Requirements

The new rank requirements began on January 1, 2016. If your scout completed their current rank after December 1, 2015, they should be using the new requirements.

Adult Volunteers Requested

Troop 190 Families:

Scoutmaster, Jeff Stoner, and Committee Chair, David Brill are seeking some Adult Volunteers to help plan and execute Troop Activities, Camps, etc. Please review the list below and talk to Jeff or I about your willingness to consider volunteering for positions listed as OPEN. In addition to the below list, our Advancement Chair, Cindy Sabatini is always in need of Adults to help with Boards of Review (BOR) please seek out Cindy at a Troop meeting to talk about participating in these future BOR meetings to help our Scouts Advance. Finally, our Charter Organization the Upper Allen Kiwanis are always seeking new members, see Brenda Kateluzos. The UA Kiwanis are a service organization with a focus on Children, that is why they Sponsor us, any help you can provide them to keep their organization strong and vibrant is helping the Troop.
